7. Writing a report

Introduction

The goal of this report is to inform the experience working at the Italian Cultural Institute in New York, to help with recommendations to others who need it.

My work experience

During my six weeks working at the Italian Cultural Institute in New York I was assigned to work on the improvement of the institute in the position of cultural advisor.

a)    Location

The cultural institute is located in Brooklyn, very close to the river. The establishment is very nice and has good access to get there by car, but public transport is also a good option as there is a stop right outside the cultural institute.

b)     Working hours

During my stay, I had a schedule from Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm, it was very nice to work on those schedules as I had plenty of time to go out with friends or get to know the city. However, I do not know if all positions have the same schedules, so I recommend asking the employer.

c)    Dress code

The dress code of the place was quite relaxed, you didn’t have to wear formal clothing. The truth is that I was never warned about this fear and it was not of great importance to them how you were dressed. Good thing they didn’t care that you had piercing or tattoos.

d)     Colleagues

I was fortunate to work with very friendly, friendly and loving colleagues, so my stay there was very good. However, I think mine was an exception as the work environment in general was a bit hostile. The truth is that I never worked with these people, but I heard many rumors, which was not very pleasant.

General comments

My experience at the Italian cultural institute was very pleasant because I learned many things about how to better manage an institution for which I applied several things learned in the career. However, the working environment was not very pleasant.

Conclusion

By way of conclusion, the Italian cultural institute is a good option to put into practice the knowledge of the career and is special for people who are very related to cultural topics, since the institute approaches the culture in a very enriching way. However, you have to be careful with the work environment, if you are lucky, it can be a very positive experience, like mine.
