a. “Chilean education” In Chile, education is very unequal. In this country there are has 4 main types of schools: municipal, private subsidized, private and technical, so the access to education depends on your ability to pay. The problem is these four types of school don’t give the same educational quality. Specifically, students who went to private schools are more likely to go to university than those who didn’t go because, in Chile, access to university is measure by a standardized test call PSU (Prueba de Selección Universitaria or university selection test). We know that chilean education is unequal, but why is this so important? Because it generates the class reproduction, that is, the poor will continue to be poor and the rich will continue to be rich. b.
